Garage Tips

Overhead Garage Doors
Overhead garage doors aren't necessarily a typical point of entry for an intruder, but some customers feel more secure adding protection to these doors.

In some cases (when the door is made of wood), our micro Door or Window Sensor is a good option.  If the door is made of metal, consider our Overhead Garage Door Sensor, which is a little more industrial.  The installation is a little more involved, but don't worry - we provide the necessary screws and no power tools are required.

Remember, your entry delay (the time you have to disarm before the alarm goes off) starts when the garage door opens.  Remember, you can use your Keychain Remote to disarm right from the car.

Sensor Left Open
Do you ever leave your overhead garage door open at night?  It happens to the best of us.  Our revolutionary Interactive Monitoring service has a neat feature called Sensor Left Open

Here's how it works:

  1. At 6:32pm you come home from work.  It's been a hot day, so you leave the garage door open to cool it off.

  2. By 7:32pm you're enjoying dinner with your family and then settle in for a fun board game.

  3. Around 8:15pm you tuck the little ones in for bed and pickup a book (having forgotten about that garage door).

  4. At 8:32pm you get a text message on your cell phone alerting you that the garage door is still open.

As you would expect, you can customize the time (in this example, 2-hours) and the relevant sensors, all from your easy to use online portal.

By now, you can probably guess the answer... think a traditional alarm system can do that
