When I am out of town, I use FrontPoints's app for my iphone and ipad to take a look around the house and yard just to make sure everything is ok. I have my front door camera set up to notify me if someone walks past a certain point on my porch and I can quickly watch the video and save it if need be. Amazing!

it's amazing how efficient the wireless sensors are... NONE of them have required new batteries in the 2 years I've had them. Even the main door and motion sensors, that are constantly having to send out signals. I think about 95% of sensor types are "supervised", so they tell the control panel (which then tells you) when the batteries are low... and I know the door/window and motions are among the supervised sensors.

UPDATE: This works very well. No I have not had an attempted break-in where the system prevented it from happening, why I say that this works well is because it has kept on working even when inadvertently unplugged and when our local phone service was interrupted for a couple of days.

I can watch the logs to see what areas the person goes into by what sensors are opened, even motion detectors, so I know where they go in the house. ...I have my system configured to send me emails/texts when the power goes out.

Every Monday through Friday at a fixed time I have my system send me an email and a text message if I forgot to arm the house and I can arm it from the internet or my iphone. If my son needs to come over while I am out, I can disarm the system from my iphone or the internet just to make sure he does not accidentally trigger the alarm. I can have the system text or email me if the garage or back door is left open after a certain time at night.

The equipment, which is made by GE, arrived 3 days later, and I installed it myself in about 30 minutes. It is all wireless, so there are no problems with running lines or drilling cable paths. After the equipment was installed I called the FrontPoint office and in a few minutes the system and monitoring were activated.

OK so I used to travel a lot and my wife wanted to be sure that we had an alarm for the house while I was away.

The boxes showed up quickly... I followed the instructions (un tape a sensor and stick it somewhere, then plug in the main base, that is it) The video monitoring was a little trickier because of my firewalls, but again I followed the instructions and that worked. I then called frontpoint and thy verified that I was all set. I played with it, showing videos of my kids on the iphone stuff like that, I enjoyed watching them get there bed time stories when I was on the road. But then one day I had a fire, yep a real fire and we all went out side the fire department was at my house within 5 minutes, Front point started calling me right away and emailing and texting etc. well once the fire was over I called the insurance company and they wanted proof of the fire so I just emailed them the video, case closed.

Front Point has delivered from day one with quick delivery of the hardware and quick setup in our home. The FP staff was knowledgeable about each item and were able to make suggestions on how to create a custom plan for securing our home. Having sold home alarms in the past, I know the problems in the contracts with using the big firms you see advertised on TV: you never own their alarm and you can't get rid of them when you move. I've had a FrontPoint system for nearly a year. I can't say enough good things; first off, customer service is excellent. They are extremely responsive and helpful. Second, and most important, the system works great. I love that I can access all the information from my iPhone. I can arm the system, monitor my Zwave thermostat, turn lights on and off, and watch the security camera. We moved temporarily for work for 6 months, and the system gave us piece of mind that our house was in good hands!

We decided on FrontPoint for a couple of reasons. First, I couldn't find a negative review anywhere, except people who wanted out of a contract they had agreed on. Second, FrontPoint offered a system that was wireless, so that we could install it and didn't need someone to do the install for us. Third, the system is cellular based with battery back up, so if the power is out or the phone lines are down, we are still protected.

I happened upon this little gem of a company called FrontPoint Security Solutions based in McLean, VA (but providing service nationwide).

The following combined points are what set FrontPoint apart from "the rest", in rough order of importance:

  1. CUSTOMER SERVICE: I have very rarely, if ever, received such consistently excellent customer service. Everyone at Frontpoint has always bent over backwards to accommodate my needs in a fast, professional, and friendly manner.
  2. WIRELESS COMMUNICATION TO THE CENTRAL STATION: All FrontPoint security systems communicate to the central monitoring station using a wireless cellular communication channel. And all the sensors (except the CO detector) run on batteries, and the control panel itself has a 24 hour battery backup, so even if someone cuts the power, it won't help them break in.
  3. FRONTPOINT'S INTERACTIVE MONITORING USES ALARM.COM They partnered with GE to build their technology from the ground up and tightly integrate it into the software and hardware of the control panel. This is an enormous differentiator.
  4. WAY IN WHICH FRONTPOINT SYSTEMS IMPLEMENT ALARM-PENDING FrontPoint's Interactive Monitoring plan: an intruder has all of about 5 seconds to locate & destroy the control panel from the time any sensor is tripped REGARDLESS if the system is still in entry delay state or not! *This is actual security*, not just perceived security. Another huge differentiator.

It is difficult to think of a company that I love more than FrontPoint. Some highlights:

  • Awesome customer service, staffed by normal, smart, friendly people, not the disengaged types you often encounter elsewhere.
  • I can turn my alarm on or off from anywhere -- when I'm at a friend's, when I'm upstairs in bed, when I'm out of the country.
  • I can assign different people different codes, and then I can check online to see what activity has been associated with their code, in case I'm suspicious that they're up to no good.
  • It runs on some crazy former military communications line or something, rather than a phone line or traditional wires. So it's never down.

Since I started traveling for work I decided I needed a security system for my home which is in a somewhat isolated country setting.

I setup a FrontPoint security system on my home back in the Summer of 2009. The systems are wireless and are very easy to setup. I ordered sensors for all doors and windows, a glass break sensor for the living room sliding glass door and several outdoor motion detectors. It took about an hour to setup and test and everything worked great right from the start. They configure all of your components and then mail all the equipment to you to set in place.

The Internet interface is real cool. I have an app for my iPhone to arm and disarm remotely.

These are the reasons we picked FrontPoint Security and the reasons that we have been extremely pleased with them ever since.

  • WIRELESS EQUIPMENT: This means that you can take your equipment with you wherever you go if you move, and more importantly that it can not be dismantled by an intruder simply from cutting the cord, or cutting the power.
  • HIGH-TECH: There are tons of add-ons that you can add to your system including motion sensors, garage door sensors, glass break sensor, flood sensor, heat sensor, freeze sensor, smoke detector, CO2 sensor, etc. etc. and of course the cameras!
  • MONITORING: You can log-on online to check your status, history, and arm or disarm your alarm from anywhere. There are also apps for Android & IPhone
  • BEST RESPONSE COMPANY: The system is very unique in that it sends out a pending alarm first so that when you have a false alarm you have time to disarm it yourself.

I would *NEVER* and I repeat *NEVER* use one of those crappy "security" systems like ADT ---- FrontPoint all the way..!! :)

Since I started I love Frontpoint! ...We weren't really happy with our security company as the alarm had gone off, and when we told them to call the police, they were rude and didn't. ...Frontpoint offers garage door monitors, on top of the regular window/door, motion and glass breaking sensors. Now we're alerted if the garage door is open after a certain hour and if open for too long of time. I love this alert as well as the alerts you can set up to tell you if you forgot to set your alarm. It's easy to arm it from any computer or smartphone.

Easy to set up, and unlike some of the app store reviews for http://alarm.com, I've never had a problem arming and disarming my system from my iPhone. Overall, very pleased.

Only drawback is cosmetic-- unlike professionally installed control panels, this one is plug-in and the cord is visible. Other than that, it's great to be able to set up the system yourself in minutes.

Disclosure: I don't have the system yet (just ordered today). I will definitely edit this review once I get my system, but I had to give them a 5 rating for the sheer awesomeness of their customer service! It's so refreshing to communicate with competent sales people over the phone. And... they offered me discounts and contract enhancements without me even asking for them. Definitely worth a look. At the very least call and you talk to someone nice for a change (ahem Comcast)

I have been using FrontPoint for about 2 years now - I purchased the system because of the excellent presentation by telephone sales - and at first was hesitant to use it. I had never needed an alarm system and felt it was too complicated. Well it wasn't, and and after I started using it, I felt confident and now it has become a habit to set the alarm each and every time I leave the house for any length of time, and in the evening before we close up for the night. I recommend this as your home security system.

We've been really pleased with Frontpoint. We've had our system for about six months and have found it reliable, easy to use, and solid peace of mind. I installed it in under an hour (we have a lot of sensors). I love to be able to pull up video of our house on my iPhone while I'm at work. It's nice to see what our dog is up to, and comforting to see that no one is in the house. Great interactive website for Fronpoint customers, too. They also seem to making their interface better all the time.

I also think it's essential to have the smoke detectors that are linked to the control center. I'm not sure whether a fire or a burglary is more likely, but nice to know we're covered for both.

I really can't imagine going with a company whose technology is behind Frontpoint's. What a great company.

My Wife and I bought a new house in a working-class neighborhood in Denver and about 2 months after move-in, our house was robbed. What a disgusting feeling.

Reactively, I called ADT and had their salesman come out and preach his gospel--after doing some online research and seeing the reviews for FrontPoint, I decided to go with their service.

Install was super easy and I have since upgraded to video cameras and sensored my garage doors. I 'installed' the control panel on a media cabinet we have and it looks great (this way no wires are dangling down).

The price is right (at least for us). It's cheaper than major alarm companies in our area if you sign a 3-year contract. FrontPoint's own customer service center seems well-staffed too. I never had to wait more than a minute for a human representative to talk to me.

I purchased the frontpoint system about eight months ago and have been absolutely 100% satisfied since I first opened the box. The system is very easy to self-install and the customer service agents have been nothing but professional and extremely knowledgeable. The security of my wife, my daughter and our home is a high priority to me and the cellular based system that Frontpoint provides instead of the hard wired systems that can just be cut which then renders your system useless was a big draw for me to purchase the system.

Sure, there are systems that work over IP, but the cell technology Frontpoint uses seems more reliable to me. I LOVE the iPhone app. Before then, I used the mobile site regularly. ...The website and online setup was amazingly simple. The support from the company has been nothing short of superior - I requested extra two-sided stickies, and they arrived in two days. We've tested the system (to make my mother comfortable about what would happen if she actaully pressed the button)....

I can configure emails however I want ... MUCH better than any of the competitors. Oh ... and I especially loved when I got an email that told me her power went out during the recent storm. I called her immediately to ask if she was OK.

To continue my love affair with FrontPoint, let me point out another situation where FrontPoint is outstanding: moving. My wife and I recently moved into a new home, and transferring the system could not have been easier. To move, all I had to do was unplug my control panel and remove the individual sensors from the doors and windows of my old house. When I got to our new place, I placed the sensors in their proper locations, added a few new devices (the new place is larger w/ more windows), and placed a call to activate everything.

We originally wanted to go with ADT, but after they dropped the ball with their estimate, we decided to go with a DIY service. FrontPoint is very simple and to the point. They basically mail you a box full of wireless sensors which you place all over your house. You then call up and activate with them, and voila, you're being monitored.

One of the best parts of the FrontPoint service is that your system is completely customizable. Need 40 windows covered? No problem. Want to put a flood sensor if you're in a low lying area? They have a sensor for that too. You can even add extra main panels if you need.

I also like the online and mobile monitoring. You can basically arm or disarm your system from anywhere, and even see when doors were open and closed. Pretty cool stuff.

In the end, these guys are very reliable, cheaper than ADT, and when we needed help, they were right there giving awesome customer service on the phone. Top notch!

After analyzing all the different Security companies, Front Point was the one that stood out the most for me. I like the wireless option and the set up was very simple and easy to work with. When I call, there's hardly a wait and I looked at BBB first and saw they were rated well (unlike some of the local companies). So far so good, and I like the option of accessing the alarm system online as well.

Very easy set up and great customer support. You get to talk to a real person right away and they are very courteous and helpful. Had it installed in no time and now feel safe and secure. Plus, if we move, we can bring it with us. No phone lines involved in the monitoring so nobody can disable the alarm and the back-up battery last a long time in case of a power outage. Really like the ability to check, arm and disarm from my mobile phone too.

Frontpoint is tops. After much research I signed them up and installed the system myself--all wireless so it was easy. I can view my home security cameras on my phone or computer from anywhere in the world. One camera even caught my wife sleepwalking one night, so I used the recorded video clip to prove to her that she was sleepwalking: thank goodness our Frontpoint system was on so the alarm went off when she sleepwalked through the front door at midnight last week.
