Smoke & Heat Sensor

Protecting your home from fire and smoke damage is one of the most basic and vital safety measures you can take. A Frontpoint Smoke and Heat Sensor not only detects smoke, it can detect when a room is getting too hot, too fast.

Life-saving

Our Smoke Heat Sensor is your first line of defense against a life-threatening emergency. Help protect your home and loved ones with a Smoke and Heat Sensor that is monitored every second of every day. If the sensor is triggered, we’ll alert your local fire department in the case of an emergency.

Pet-saving

Our pets need protection, too! If the sensor is triggered, we’ll contact the fire department right away. We’ll make sure they know your furry friend is inside and needs help.

Saving memories

Family heirlooms and photos are irreplaceable items that we all have in our home. Having a secure monitoring system for smoke and heat ensures your valuables stay safe and secure.

Description

The national fire code advises homeowners to protect each floor of the house. We recommend at least one Smoke and Heat Sensor outside each sleeping area. A "sleeping area" is a cluster of bedrooms that share a common hallway.

Many homes are built with smoke detectors, but in most cases these sensors are not monitored. All of Frontpoint's sensors communicate with our Monitoring Center, via the Control Panel.

Smoke and Heat Sensors provide your most comprehensive and effective fire protection by detecting smoke, detecting heat and being monitored. Monitoring is critical, to dramatically reduce the response time of the fire department in an emergency. Monitoring also protects your home when you're not there.

Setup

Getting Started
Simple to Set Up

Mount the Smoke and Heat Sensors on the ceiling or wall. Like all our sensors, they come with easy "peel-and-place" mounting adhesive. For ceiling mounts, place sensors in the center of a room or hallway, at least 4" away from the nearest wall. For walls, the ideal location is 4-12" below the ceiling.

The kitchen isn't the best place for Smoke and Heat Sensors, because cooking fumes can set them off. These sensors sometimes confuse dust or other particles for smoke. Avoid dusty or humid areas, and locations near a ventilation source. Your HVAC intake, for example, could prevent smoke from reaching the detector.
