As you may already know, FrontPoint partnered with Alarm.com back at our conception in 2007. As a result of that partnership, our wireless home security system reaps many benefits from Alarm.com’s unique features. We’re very excited to announce that Alarm.com was recently named “Best” by CE Pro Magazine for its Geo-Services. We think Geo-Services offers extreme usefulness and the honor is well-deserved. We’re also aware that many customers may not know that these services exist, what they are, or what they do. Today, we’re going to clear up all the mystery. What It Is Alarm.com’s Geo-Services is an exclusive technology that strengthens the connection between you and your home through the GPS technology in your smartphone.  That’s a fancy way of saying it uses your smartphone’s GPS location to interact with your system. How It Works The “heart” of Geo-Services is the “geofence” -- an invisible area specified by the user around the location of your security system (typically a home or office). Whenever you pass the geofence, either by leaving the area or coming into it, any rules and settings you have applied will go into effect. It is designed to make your life a little bit easier. What sort of rules or settings can you apply? I’m glad you asked.
  • Arming Notification
Are you the forgetful type? An arming reminder will certainly help! If you ever leave your house or office and forget to arm your security system, a notification will be sent to your phone. You can conveniently use the mobile app to arm your system once you get a notification.
  • Thermostat Automation
This allows you to automatically adjust the temperature whether you’re leaving or arriving. You’ll need a special thermostat to use this function, but it’s an effective way to lower your electricity bill.
  • Video Recording
Home security cameras are great tools for protecting your home, but there are times when you might not want them to record. With the Geo-Services feature, videos will automatically pause while you’re home. In addition to Geo-Services, FrontPoint is able to offer you many great features thanks to Alarm.com’s commitment to innovation. Part of the Interactive Monitoring package, these include Crash & Smash Protection, remote system access and control, mobile app, and instant email/text notifications. It’s part of our commitment to your safety by bringing you the latest home security and automation technology. If you still have any questions about Alarm.com’s Geo-Services, or would like to comment on your experience with it so far, let us know in the comments below!
