Frontpoint Picks to deal with the Winter Storm

Let’s talk for a moment about how much snow (and cold!) blanketed the US this week. Schools and offices were shut down as roads became blanketed in white and the temperatures plummeted. We shiver just thinking about it.

Here in northern VA (where FrontPoint is located), we received our fair share of snow. It may not have been as much as our northern neighbors or what the Midwest/Great Lakes are experiencing, but it was enough for us.

It’s funny because the first snowfall is always a beautiful and pleasant sight; it is nature’s way of saying that winter is officially here. But with each such successive one, the snow becomes less pleasant and more of a chore.

We know the pain, and quite frankly, we’ve had enough.

This week’s edition of FrontPoint Picks we’ve selected some of our favorite ways to deal with the beautiful, albeit pesky, snow. We want to make sure you’re prepared – from the first sight of a storm through its melting aftermath.

  1. How to Dig Your Car out after a Snow Storm

The blizzard has come and gone, but the roads are clear and your office is open – time to go to work. Unfortunately, the storm has left your car under a mountain of snow. It’s a tough process and you’ll probably be late, but it has to get done eventually. Here are eight steps you can take to make digging your car out easier – and safer to drive!

  2. 10 Gadgets That Terminate Snow and Ice

The eight steps above are effective, but maybe it’s too slow for your tastes. You’re in a rush and you want to leave – NOW! Most likely, you’re out of luck, unless you have one of these gadgets that will completely obliterate your winter foe.

  3. Eco-friendly Salt Alternatives for Melting Ice and Snow

Maybe you don’t have a snow blower with a jet engine or some ingenious way to just make the snow melt. You could opt to lay down salt, but it’s not good for the environment. Consider these eco-friendly alternatives.

  4. Eight Fun Ideas for Power Outages

The snow has won. You've lost all will to shovel, melt, and fight the snow. Lying in your warm bed, you thought it was all over, until the power goes out. Being trapped inside with no electricity can mean the quick arrival of cabin fever, especially for kids. Babble has you covered with eight ways for you and your family to pass the time while you’re stuck inside.
