Protect Your Home from Package Thieves
As an online shopaholic (curse you one-click checkout!), I get really excited knowing there’s a package just waiting on my doorstep. I can only imagine how distraught I’d be if I came home to find that my package was stolen.
Unfortunately, thousands of people across the country have experienced this. “Package thieves” are plucking freshly-delivered packages right from doorsteps. Some of these crooks are even following the delivery trucks!
The good news is that many of these package thieves have been caught and arrested – like this woman and this guy. And the common theme in these and other package thief arrest stories is the presence of security cameras.
Security Camera Protection
A security camera is a great way to watch over your delivered packages, and is even more effective when part of a home alarm system.
If you’re a Frontpoint customer, you can set up your camera to be automatically activated upon movement (and to send a notification), so when the delivery guy drops off your package, you’ll know. You could then ask a neighbor or friend to pick up the package.
If worst comes to worst, your camera will also be activated should a package thief swoop by. That footage can be used to help the police capture the culprit.
It’s unfortunate that thieves have made it almost necessary to protect your deliveries, but at least it’s easier with a security camera.
