Wireless Home Security with Home Automation: Z-Wave Light Control Module

Affordable home automation has arrived at last: even some of the larger, old-school alarm companies are “bundling” these services with traditional intrusion protection to appeal to more homeowners. Makes sense - even ADT has entered the fray with its new Pulse platform. As I have written elsewhere, ADT’s offering leaves much to be desired: however, the simple fact that even the alarm industry's 800 lb. gorilla is finally combining home automation with home security must be significant. What is Z-Wave?

Z-Wave is a proprietary wireless communications protocol designed for home automation, specifically to remote control applications in residential and light commercial environments. What is Z-Wave Used for?

  • Program a light to turn on or off, in conjunction with an alarm event.

Please clarify what a "The Device 2: Light/Appliance reported a Malfunction" message may mean. The Z-wave has been scheduled to come on and go off at specified times and it seems to be doing that fine. It also responds fine to manual commands to turn it on and off. But i get the above email messages and an "End of Malfunction" message also at the scheduled on and off times almost every day. ==

I am a new customer to Frontpoint but am struggling with the light control sensors. They are plugged into sockets but there is no transmission to our App our Frontpoint webpage for us to activate and use these devices. Do we return these or is there any instruction on how to set these up. We have been calling for over a week without any return calls or emails. Hoping this note gets us a response.
